FLOVV: CHATEAU MARMONT INTERVIEW

  1. CHATEAU MARMONT INTERVIEW

When and how did you decide to create Chateau Marmont?

We created Chateau Marmont in 2006, we wanted to form a band together and play the music we liked, based on keyboards, spacey, very 70’s influenced. some of us had bands together before this one and we all know each other for many years, so it’s a friendship story.

Who would you cite as your biggest influences?

Wow, hard to name a few, Kraftwerk, progressive bands like Camel or Pink Floyd, films composers like Francis Lai or François de Roubaix, things like Frank Zappa, Giorgio Moroder, Klaus Schulze, dancefloor stuffs…

It says in your myspace you aren’t currently working on any remixes. Does that mean you are working on your future album?

absolutely ! we’re starting to work on it this week. we are very excited, we’re going to an old lost house in the woods, very freaky, just us and our instruments. very different from what we’ve done in the past. and it’s our first album, probably the most important thing in our “career”.

    Any upcoming tours or releases?

not really because of the album. just gigs here and there, in moscow, london, brighton, and maybe corsica and japan this summer.

Is Nibiru your next single or just a rarity/b-side?

it’s the title track of our next single that’s gonna be released on Institubes really soon. a 12 inch, 4 new songs. we are proud of it.

Can we expect some remixes of your own tracks?

yes, for this new ep, we’ve been remixed by Gavin Russom, Beautiful Swimmers, Gesaffelstein and Oneohtrix Point Never.

The artwork for Solar Apex and your Myspace is possibly the coolest artwork around. Do you do it yourselves? What do you use as inspiration?

No, it’s a graphic design collective who made it, called House Of Kids, they make most of the Institubes records’artwork, they so great, it’s impressive. THey also made the Nibiru one.

How is that whole Alizée production thing going? Are you planning on producing any other artists?

It was really interesting to work with a “mainstream” singer, different ways to think our music, different approach. the first single “Les Collines” is on air and the album is scheduled for the last days of march. we’re not planning anything, we’re up to any experience but we’re for the moment focused on our full-length.

I know you were expecting this, anyway, enjoy it.
